Stuff Girls Need to Know...

This month's "stuff" by Alicia Edwards, Urban Style Examiner

FINDING THAT PERFECT SHADE OF RED LIPSTICK

There is an urban legend that says as the economy goes down...lipstick sales go up.  The actual term "lipstick index" was coined by an Estee Lauder executive during the 2001 recession. The term has seeped into pop culture but as an  index is less  reliable. The Urban Style Examiner does not subscribe to the lipstick index theory but she does believe that everyone can find the perfect red lipstick.

The perfect red lipstick can be as elusive as finding the perfect perfume but it is doable.  Just follow these simple steps:
1.    First you must actually take the time to try them on...lipsticks always look different on the tube than on your face.
2.    Now that you have committed to trying some on, ask yourself if you want a matte or a shiny look.  Making this choice early on with help speed up the process and narrow your search.
3.    Red lipsticks have either a blue or an orange tone and you will see which one cast looks best to you as you try them on.  Pick about 3-5  and try them on the back of your hand first.
4.    Once  you have a few colors that you like...then try them on your lips.  Feel free to seek an second opinion.
5.    Invest in  a good lip primer to keep the lovely red shade that you took the time to pick out "true".
Now that you got found your red lipstick  shade...wear occasionally to keep it special.
